Gladys M. Mattson of Mora died on Sat. Feb. 11, 2006, at the Villa Health Care Center in
Mora. She was 91 years old.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1914, in Knife Lake Township to Olaus and Emma (Norby) Haugen.
After growing up in the area, she was united in marriage on Aug. 16, 1940, in Mora to Oscar
Mattson.
After the marriage, the two primarily resided in the Mora area. She had lived in the same white
stucco house across from Mora High School for 62 years.
She was a cook at Mora High School for 28 years and also did a lot of child care for area
churches.
She was an avid member of the Mora Legion Auxiliary. She loved dancing and enjoyed
gardening and flowers as well as traveling. She was very proud of her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; sisters, Ida McCall, Bertha Mattson, Grace
Clayton; brother, Roy Haugen; and two infant twin siblings.
She is survived by her son, Rick (Pam) Mattson of Mora; daughter; Sandra (Don) Herr of
Milaca; grandchildren, Julie (Dave) Oelrich of Oakdale, Lisa (Kevin) Primus of Milaca, Sara
(Delwood) Larsen of Milaca, Michael Herr of Illinois, Kari Mattson of South St. Paul, Kris
Mattson of Mora, Kenny Mattson of Mora and Kinsey (Brent) Folkema of Mora; great
grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, Kelsey, Jacob, William, Emma and Brock; sister-in-law, Rosie
Haugen of Mora; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Wed. Feb. 15, 2006 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora with
Rev.'s Stephen Blenkush and Tim Bauer officiating. Music will be provided by Betty Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were grandsons, Michael Herr, Kris Mattson, Kenny Mattson, Brent
Folkema, Kevin Primus, David Oelrich, and Delwood Larsen as well as great grandsons
Nicholas Gruba, Ryan Gruba, Jacob Oelrich, William Oelrich and Brock Folkema.
Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Dresser-Methven Funeral Home.
